I could never top this post about it by our hostess so read all the details there (and then copy this party if your friends would go for such a thing). I will just entice you by telling you we had to come with prepared talents and ours was a choreographed Michael Jackson light-saber routine.
If you care to see a video of our number, click here. I'm pretty sure this thing is going viral soon. Just start at the one-minute mark because the first minute was an ill-conceived intro that Tyler thought would be awkwardly funny but was really just awkward.
Our number came in second to this:

I have high-brow friends.
But I must say I love having friends that I am comfortable enough with to change into my sweats an hour into the party. That allowed me to break out some killer moves later in the evening:

I have no shame. Here is the last shot of me and my girlfriends before my big win was announced--still friendly and hopeful!

And now I am like Mitt and my friends are like Newt--I have a big target on my back for 2013!
My friends, Me.
Actually, it's not a target--it's the emblem on the back of my pageant prize:
His and Hers 2012 Pageant Champion jackets.
They fit like gloves!
They fit like gloves!
It's truly an honor to be Mrs. 2012. I will strive to live up to the title and not do anything unsavory that might strip me of my crown. Ain't no way those hussies are getting my jacket!

Oh.My.Gosh! That video is hilarious! The look of total concentration on Tyler's face is probably one of the best parts! Who gets credit for the choreography?
Congrats on the crowning as well! Sounds like a really fun night for all the "PARTICIPANTS." ;)
I read the other post by your friend. That was intense fun, but it looked like a blast!
Olivia watched the video with me...her response? "Wow, she must be a really cool mom. You would never do that."
That party looks like a total crack up...what a great way to ring in the new year! Here's to your crown, and to a fantastic 2012!
The first minute of your dance was my favorite part! So much suspense. And it was like you were too cool to care if any of us were waiting for you. Seriously. That and the little jumpy move you used while you were walking around each other. It was so funny. Such a fun party, huh? And of course you guys won. You guys win everything. ;) We actually weren't expecting to place. We're just not as competitive as the rest of you folks.
I have a whole new level of respect and awe. That was hilarious. I love the Mitt/Newt analogy, too.
Slow it down, folks!
First off--they don't win everything. I have a (real) badge on my blog that tells a far different tale.
Second, let's not confuse that paper holiday hat with a real crown. There's no crown. They're not royalty!! Just common people who had a decent dance routine. I'm talking about the MJ one, not the "freestyle" moves that hurt my eyes. Is it just me, or does Ashley look like she's kind of possessed in the "dance off" picture on my blog? Legs askew, hands turned backward...
I'm glad you're Mitt, but I'm not happy about being Newt.
I hope your fancy logo falls apart the first time you wash it!!
I lash out in disappointment, not anger.
PS....this hussy is hot on your trail!!
You guys are hilarious. I love imagining you and Tyler, at home, choreographing that! What a great party idea...I may have to duplicate it. Can you fly in for my party for an encore?
So cuuuuute! I was THIS close to hosting a New Years party now that we have the space, but it was not meant to be this year:(
I love new years, and I hate the idea of staring at the TV all night being someone's tradition. Love the contest, way to go on the big win!
SO FUNNY! Thanks for the sharing the dance- it was awesome. I definitely plan to copy this party one day. The dance pictures of you guys are killing me- it looks like you really gave it your all!! Way to go and congrats on the win!!
Oh my gosh. I was laughing out loud and so were my kids. I liked the first awkward minute. That was really funny. What a great party. It is important to remember that the real victory was not that you won, but that you beat Kaari and Lancer.
This made me so happy at the end of a long day. I so want to copy the party idea. So funny!
That video literally made me laugh out loud! LOVE IT!
I just read your friends blog and it makes me want to move immediately to a new place so I can have fun friends!
I told Brian I wanted to host a party like that and he told me "no way". Good thing I don't listen to him.
PS You can keep going to fast food restaurants when you are that skinny.
Seems like I'm always the last to comment these days. . .I was tending Sammie,RyRy and Buster yesterday, so I turned on the video and the FOUR of us watched it over and over. The kids loved it! So did I! I'm claiming credit for your dancing ability. Congrats on the big win!
This is legendary. I love it!!!
You are hilarious. I love the video and congratulate you both on a great win! You both totally scored with those jackets. I loved the photos of you dancing with your hair flying.
This is hilarious, you guys are so fun! My family loved your Super Hero Christmas card photo...maybe I should show them this.
This comment has nothing to do with this post, but I know you may not post again till the school year ends.
Our lives really do run parallel and I say this because I was just reading Molly's blog about how you made Snickerdoodles on Sunday and ate them all so Tyler wouldn't have to.
I made the EXACT SAME COOKIE on Saturday for my class on Sunday and ate the rest of them so Chuche wouldn't have to.
We really are such supportive wives.
Paul (the apostle) would be proud.
