Pre-Thanksgiving Post

That title was a trick to lure you into this post. I have this thing where, when there is going to be a big event like Halloween, I like to try to blog about it before it happens, while it's still fresh and people still care. Hence, the costume sneak peak last week. Brooke mocks me for this, but I tell you, it's a good principle.

This post violates that principle. Halloween is a distant memory and no one wants to see anyone else's kids in a pumpkin patch anymore. Here are my kids in a pumpkin patch:

Bob's Pumpkin Patch in Half Moon Bay.

The scenery is pretty and the pumpkins are cheap.

Tyler's sisters Ashley and Amy.

Our haul in the back of Goldfinger.
Most of these were my mother-in-law's!

We also had to hit the ghetto neighborhood pumpkin patch because they put this ginormous bouncy tiger at the corner of a main intersection.

Charlie, age 5.

My kids saw it every day and begged to go. I finally caved and paid $26 for an hour of bouncing.

Max, 3-and-a-half.

A lady offered to take this picture of me and Bennett and I love it because it captures my every-day-running-around-with-the-kids-life/messy ponytail:

Bennett, 14 months.

In between the pumpkin patches and Halloween night we had six Halloween parties. Five were dress-up. I took on a second job as Czar of Costume Parts. The kids wanted to be superheroes again this year so we recycled last year's costumes. I cut a few inches off the arms and legs of Max's old superman costume (to Tyler's initial horror) and it was perfect for Bennett:

Here's all of us!

Now to go love me some November!

I'm so glad that you posted this. I am going to beg Darren to do a theme with me next year. All together you guys look SOOOOO cute. And you yourself look HOT. It's crazy to see you with dark hair.

I love pumpkin patch pictures and am jealous of all the pumpkins in your haul. :)

I was planning to write something very similar to this tonight when I post my halloween pics. You think it's old news and no one cares anymore plus it feels out of date, but it's better to just get them up. You'll be glad you did. I totally wanted to do it last night but I couldn't move after an exhausting night of trick or treating. Also we had the neighborhood bouncy house patch and I was able to avoid it this year- hallelujah! You guys look fabulous as the super hero family- good job!

Best pics ever....I beg you to use the superhero pic on your christmas card. It's magazine worthy.

Ha! I need to post about Halloween (because my memory is so bad I'll forget whatever I don't post), but I, too, know that no one wants to see any more Halloween posts. Maybe I'll say my post is about Christmas. ;)

I disagree with you about day after pics...there is a 24 hour window in which it is still okay to post.

Your little red heads look so cute in the pumpkin patch. And of course, I love the superhero costumes..Ry Ry is really jealous.

I am pinning your family Halloween picture on pinterest. I aspire to have a whole family themed costume some year that isn't lame like being pirates or witches. In the meantime, I will just look at your pics over and over. Tyler is my hero. Ashley- you are one amazing looking wonder woman.

Happy Halloween!

I agree with Brooke. If you posted this tomorrow... no one would care... but it is totally allowed on Nov 1st ;)

I love you and miss you Ash. I love how you tricked me into reading another post about halloween. I have so many more posts that will include pumpkins patches and halloween fun, but I didn't want to do it .. because it's November already! Thanks for the inspiration. I can't believe how many pumpkins were in the back of your "mini". I LOVE that family picture - I hope you guys blow that one up and hang it up every halloween. Love it.

I want to see your kids in a pumpkin patch. Aint nothin cuter than a slew of carrot-tops running around a pumpkin patch. And yours are especially cute.

Had I realized it would be less than $50, I would have taken my kids to the patch on the intersection as well.

Where are tyler's running shorts in the family super hero picture?

Nice job surviving halloween. I put the costumes all away today and feel like a new woman. Twas fun while it lasted.

Hi Ashley! I just now found your blog through Kristine Gray and I have to say it's lovely. I wrote my Master's thesis on mommy blogging, so I love finding blogs like yours, especially when it's someone I've met. :)

Don't ever apologize about posting ANY photos of you & the kids. There's always grandma Linda that can't get enough. LOVED THEM!!

I love it! We hit the ghetto moonbounce thing at a major intersection this year, too. It was a carwash turned Halloween lure. The Chinese grandma who ran it was very enterprising. I love the costumes. The only negative I have to say is that I do not relate to that "me with the kids running around messy ponytail" photo. Messy? You have earrings. You look polished and skinny and gorgeous. I do not care for your version of what moms look like chasing their kids on a random day. I am very jealous. Oh, just noticed Jill's comment and want to say that I would pay you to use that photo as a christmas card. That would be hilarious!
