My Big Fat 32nd Birthday

I sprung from my mother's womb 32 years ago Monday. Shout it from the rooftops.

I requested my cake a day early because it was a long Sunday afternoon and I couldn't stop thinking about my cake.

My actual birthday was a pretty normal day. I taught seminary, did a fun class at the gym, did my marathon of multiple preschool drop-offs/pick-ups, had a playdate at a park with one of Charlie's preschool friends, and then went to dinner with the kids at CPK.

I love their tortilla soup!

The best part of the day was hearing from friends and getting fun little gifts and treats. I bought myself a ton of stuff online. Ten items have come and only one sweater fits (and it's from the tall girl store). That's the story of my life and I refuse to buy more ill-fitting clothes so the rest are going back. Tyler got me some antique windows off of Craigslist:

Terrible lighting but you get the idea.

We have had a big bare wall above our couch for two years and I am so happy to finally have something there. Tyler's real gift to me was spending hours this weekend refinishing and hanging these:

We got to watch Jane Eyre on Friday night which has nothing to do with my birthday but we hardly ever get to watch dvds anymore so it was nice.

I really liked that movie and I recommend it.

Last night was my real birthday celebration, though by this point the birthday part had worn off and it was just a date. We went to our favorite date restaurant Tomatina. All I care about in life right now is coziness and Tomatina out-cozies all other restaurants. Here is Tyler in our booth right in front of the roaring brick oven.

And here I am with my bruschetta and the hack job I got on my bangs this week:

I used a Groupon for a haircut.

Then we saw Moneyball. Brad was fantastic, as usual.

And now the last credit has rolled, the cake is gone, the confetti swept away . . . .

I am a terrible friends because I thought of you one million times on Monday and it was always while I was at work, or doing Finn's nebulizer treatments (don't ask), etc. but never at a time when I could actually call you.

I think you are awesome. I hope you had a wonderful birthday! As soon as I find my address book I'm going to send your card out! :)

Also, your birthday week is SO you that it made me really happy that you got to do the things that you wanted to do.

Also, that pizza looks yummy!

Happy Birthday my dear friend!

That is my kind of birthday except I require a few more gifts, a massage and a dog rub. But I digress.

I love cozy food places too...probably the most important factor in restaurant selection is the cozy factor...that's why I love Goodwood.

I am glad you had a good Bday. I will take you out to celebrate when I come down next week!

I LOVE those antique windows, but I'm sure you could see that coming from a mile away. Good work, Tyler!

CPK is fair, but I literally cannot get my head around your love of Tomatinos. Every time you mention it I think "that janky chain restaurant?? Surely she means some other place."

Your cake looks delish, and Jane Eyre is always good. It reminds me of simpler times.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, I guess I missed it on facebook.
Love the windows, I myself am in need of some new wall decor.
I am all about buying my own presents, that's the only way to get what you want, because let's face it, there are only a select few you can trust to get you exactly what you want. Cash/gift cards are the best gifts ever!
Hope life is good, you look even more fabulous than last year!

Happy Happy (late) Birthday Ash! I'm going to have to rent Jane Eyre now. I've been wondering if it was good. Glad you had a great few days of celebrating.

Happy Birthday! Mmmmm. Tomatinos sounds yummy right now...

And Tyler did a great job on the windows! (Although I was secretly looking forward to his rendition of Mondrian...)

Happy Birthday! Everything adds up to a great week, except that you only kept one gift. You totally owe yourself.

HOw did I miss your birthday? I have become very sporadic in my online life. It almost doesnt exist these days. Anyway, I am glad it was a good one! I love that you took your kids to CPK. I only risk McD. Do you still feel as though you are racing to the grave?

How do you look prettier and skinnier the older you get and more kids you have!?! Why isn't my life going that way? It sounds like the birthday week was good and I wish I was there to take you to Chili's. I love the windows--they look perfect above the couch!

Feliz Cumpleanos! The big 3-2! That first sentence had me rolling.

I love the tortilla soup at CPK! It is one of the best things there, the different spring rolls being my other fave.

I saw that version of Jane Eyre with some friends and I thought we were all going to pass out gagging at the end scene when she finds Rochester sitting there, hairy as a bear. Gross. If he were a real character alive today, he would be on the arm of one Angelina.

I thought I had already posted on here, but looks like I forgot. Happy Birthday!!!! What a fun celebrations. Low key birthdays are the best- especially when they involve CPK, treats, and other good food. I love how the windows turned out. Tyler is so crafty :) Can't wait to catch up soon!

So, I'm a little behind...but that's how I'm rollin now-a-days...Happy birthday!

Wish I would have known...I have about eight of those "vintage" windows in my garage. Straight off our 100 year old house. Ty and I have been debating about what to do with them because they are too cool to throw away, but they were too cold to keep on the house :) Anyway, love it.

hope it was fabulous. go buy ten more things for yourself. can't wait for your seminary break :)
