Halloween Sneak Peak

Has your Halloween craziness begun yet? Our first party was tonight. At the Mostess's, who you are all familiar with by now. Enough of her already! But the girl hosts a great party. Tonight the theme was Heroes and Villains, and when you have a hand-sewn Flash unitard in your Halloween box, you don't not wear it to a Heroes party.

I made him wear the shorts this year.
He hemmed them up about 10 inches.

And so it was that I needed a Wonder Woman costume.

Or perhaps a modified Wonder Woman costume.

Tyler was too busy to sew this year, so I hobbled this thing together with hot glue and stitch witchery (that magical non-sew iron together stuff). I never owned a hot glue gun before now and I don't know how I got by without it. I want to hot glue everything. The gold stuff on my costume is wrapping paper from Michael's. Tyler made the symbol on my chest with gold wrapping paper taped on black construction paper taped on my tank top. It was quality work. (Hi Tyler Kearl!).

C. Jane once called October a high-maintenance month and I think about that all the time. Between Charlie's party last week, the spooktacular, and costume finagling, I'm ready for a break from all things craftastic. But first we get to have another nine days or so of Halloween partying. Ohhhh yeaaaaaaah.

Wow--you guys are awesome! I honestly can't even get my husband to put on a t-shirt Halloween costume, and your husband is out there making his own!

Ah, the yearly Halloween post! This is probably my favorite post of the year.

I am so amazed and inspired and green with envy at that Wonder Woman costume. Reading this I realized that Chuche and I have no costumes yet, I've only been thinking about Damita's.

Good call on the Flash short shorts this year. A nice alternative. :) And I personally like the first photo as it captures a super hero on his down time.

I thought the same thing Tyler!

You guys are awesome and ridiculously cute!

Randy and I are actually invited to a Halloween party this year and are totally stumped for a costume. I don't want to be lame, but I need a doable idea.

second - Ash - I like you with the dark hair!! You look maaaavalous, darling!!
third - I can't get over your creativity and craftiness!! And up until now without a glue gun!
fourth and finally - better get that first photo off there.

Why is Tyler hitting on me in that first photo?? I'm a married woman. Tell him to give it a rest!

I cannot believe how good your costumes looked! I seriously thought you bought that outfit. I think you and Inger tied for best female costumes. Obviously, you win best hero.

THANK YOU for having Tyler wear those tiny--but effective--shorts. They did their job.

I am in love with my industrial glue gun. Glad you joined in the fun!

PS...I am SO tired of that Mostess chick. Is this her blog, or yours? Enough already!

Super fabulous!!! Love love love your craftiness!
Our party is Friday and I'm sewing like CRAZY this week. But first I have to get through Claire's Monster Birthday Party tomorrow.
Did you make boot covers?

Jacqui said...

Holy Smokes. That is awesome.

Wrapping paper? I never would have guessed. And I saw it in person. You guys looked GREAT!

Ashley said...

Yes I made the boot covers! They were actually scraps from Tyler's unitard. Just used the stitch witchery to make them into long sock looking things and then cut a slit for the heel of my boot. The white stripes are tape.

Your costumes are AWESOME. Tyler kinda freaks me out a little bit...that unitard is TIGHT. Thank goodness you made him wear shorts.

You look positively GORGEOUS and skinny. I've put on like 100 pounds since we moved. I'm hideous.

This is so awesome! You look so good. Thanks for making him wear the shorts. Can you please get Josh and I some costumes by Friday?

Quality indeed. If you've got it...flaunt it. Tyler, you look mighty comfortable in spandex tights. Did you by chance cast in the Nutcracker?
